16 weeks

How Far Along: 16 weeks
Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of an avocado.
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +8 pounds.
Maternity Clothes: i am bought one pair of maternity jeans but i haven't worn them yet and i plan to do some more shopping this weekend.
Gender: still boy... :)
Movement: I think I may actually be feeling something but nothing definitive yet.
Sleep: Okay i haven't been napping this week after work at all which is nice because i feel like i get more stuff done.
Symptoms: I've felt pretty good this week just really hungry. Still some headaches but nothing too bad.
Cravings: salads and soup. i still have an aversion to fish.
Best Moment this week: purchasing the bedding for the nursery.
What I am looking forward to: my Dr's appointment tomorrow.

To my sons.....

My child is my love, my life, and my world.

I look into his eyes and I see the future of my heart, the wealth of knowledge he will collect, the people he will know and love and create.

When I hold him close, I can breathe in the scent of his tomorrow intermingled in the soft sweetness of his today....

Please, please, let that tomorrow come.

When I lose my patience, when I struggle to find the right way to talk to my ever-growing, ever-learning son, remind me that this is his today and there may be no tomorrow. Remind me to take that extra minute to sit on the floor and crash towers with him. Remind me that the laundry is not nearly as important as the curve of his face in the moonlight.

Please, Please, let there be a tomorrow.

When I am tired from a long day of work and the last thing I want to do is watch the same episode of the same television show again and again, remind me that the day will hopefully come when he will disappear to his room after school. Remind me that my time as his hero is oh-so-limited. Remind me that the words I say and the eyes I secretly roll may be the last words and the last actions I can remember having with him.

Please, Please, let there be many more days to come.

At the end of the day, when he looks up at me with those big blue eyes and asks me to lay down with him for just one more minute, Let me lay down my burden and my wants and cares and snuggle that child. Because I do not know what the next day brings, I do not know what will come… I do not know how I would long for those moments were they ever stripped away.

Please, let him grow and learn and smile.

Let him become the man he is to become. Let him have years of life, stretching out beyond the horizon, beyond my imagination, beyond what I could ever even hope for him. Let his life be a tapestry of faces and places that he meets and knows and loves. Let him face his last days with the age and wisdom of a very, very, very old man.

And above all else… let me go first.

Because I can not imagine a world without his face, because that is the “natural” order, because although I do not like the thought of his suffering at the loss of me, I can not bear the thought of the loss of him.

Keep him safe. Keep him here.

Give me, always, one more day to hug my child.

15 Weeks

How Far Along: 15 weeks
Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of an apple.
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +5 pounds...though I think I look like I've gained a lot more than that
Maternity Clothes: still no maternity clothes but i believe that these days are short lived. Gender: still thinking boy. hopefully i will have another ultrasound next week to confirm
Movement: Nothing yet but I can't wait! I have been using the Doppler regularly to make sure that everything is ok in there...lol
What I miss: i still miss sushi and this week i have really missed caffeine.
Sleep: i am still taking naps after work but seen to be getting up less times through out the night.
Symptoms: I haven't felt great this week, lots of headaches and i feel like the Tylenol just doesn't do much. i also feel that i have been a bit more moody this week.
Cravings: Salads and soup
Best Moment this week: getting our first gift for the baby from my mom.
What I am looking forward to: my appointment next Friday and starting the registry.

14 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 14 weeks
Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a lemon.
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +4 pounds... I think I look like I've gained more.
Maternity Clothes: no maternity clothes just yet.
Gender: still thinking boy
Movement: Not yet. Hoping to feel something in the next couple weeks.
What I miss: sushi. i miss it so badly that i dream about it at night.
Sleep: Decent, not great but it's better than it was and i am still taking naps in the afternoon.
Symptoms: i am starting to feel what i believe is some lower addominal stretching.
Cravings: sweet tea and salads.
Best Moment this week: Officially being in my second trimester and getting the results of my Down's scan that everything came back normal.
What I am looking forward to: Starting to shop for baby stuff!

13 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 13 weeks
Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a medium shrimp, according to thebump.com it's the size of a peach which I much prefer.
Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Still no real weight gain though my belly is definitely growing.
Maternity Clothes: no maternity clothes yet but i have moved into some of my looser pants.
Gender: we are almost sure it is a boy

Movement: None yet.
What I miss: still sushi....lol

Sleep: Is okay, still getting up a lot to pee but other than that it's gotten better.
Symptoms: some headaches and i am feeling some stretching and pulling at my pelvis.

Cravings: still craving lots of fruit!

Best Moment this week: I went to my Down's scan last Friday. it was the longest u/s i have had so far and i got to see the little man moving around a lot. i am hoping to get those results my this Friday.

What I am looking forward to: Officially starting the second trimester and hopefully getting some of my energy back.
