20 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 20 weeks-- Halfway Point!!
Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the length of a banana
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +12 pounds.
Maternity Clothes: still maternity bottoms and a mostly regular tops
Gender: BOY!!!!
Movement: He's been a lot more active this week and I'm finally feeling little kicks. Subtle but definitely there. Frank finally got to feel a few little bumps on Wednesday night.
What I miss: a good night's sleep
Sleep: This week has been so, so. I am still getting up and down to go to the bathroom.
Symptoms: Still some constipation which drives me insane. Also pulling in my lower abdomen
Cravings: Sweets but nothing crazy.
Best Moment this week: Seeing our healthy baby BOY on the ultrasound last Friday!!! Frank has but together all of the furniture in the nursery now all that is really left is to get the crib mattress and clean out the closet in that room. I have a follow up appointment with the Dr. this Friday.

19 Weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a large heirloom tomato
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +10 pounds.
Maternity Clothes: still maternity pants and mostly regular shirts. you got to love that maternity looking shirts are so in style right now....lol
Gender: Friday is the BIG day!!! to comfirm for sure that we are having a boy
Movement: Pretty regularly I've started feeling little "taps" in my lower abdomen, or like a gentle pulsing feeling. It's so cool.
What I miss: not making grunting sounds everytime i have to bend down to do something.
Sleep: Pretty good this week, even though I still get up 2-3 times a night to pee I'm able to fall back asleep pretty fast.
Symptoms: My belly button seems to be flattening out more and more everyday. I have had some round ligament pain this week.
Cravings: Still sweets and salads. I have a serious aversion to the smell of fish right now.
Best Moment this week: Feeling those little taps, I think the movement is going to start picking up more and more.
What I am looking forward to: Getting to see the baby again on Friday adn finishing putting the rest of the furniture together in his room.

18 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 18 weeks
Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a bell pepper.
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +9 ish lbs.
Maternity Clothes: i am exclusively in maternity pants but still wearing non-maternity shirts. Gender: BOY!!!
Movement: Still some Flutters here and there. Nothing consistent, although i was in line at Kroger on Saturday and felt a very distinctive thud. I even said "whoa" and the cashier was like ma'am are you ok....lol
What I miss: nothing really. i am easing into the honeymoon phase quite nicely.
Sleep: Better but if i drink too much water in the evening i will be up and down all night to pee.
Symptoms: my hair seems like it is falling out like crazy. which i do not remember from my last pregnancy. i hope that i am not going bald.... :(
Cravings: i have had a sweet tooth this week so it has been icecream, cake, and smoothies.
Best Moment this week: Picking up the babies furniture and finally agreeing on a name for this little man.
What I am looking forward to: my anatomy scan next friday.

17 weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a turnip.
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +7 pounds
Maternity Clothes: i did a TON of maternity shopping over the weekend. I bought mostly bottoms because the majority of my tops are still wearable.
Gender: BOY
Movement: I believe there is definitely some movement happening in there now. Still hard to distinguish what's what though.
What I miss: nothing.
Sleep: This week has been better although I am still taking the occational nap after work.
Symptoms: pulling and stretching feels in my lower abdomen and bloody noses. if i get up too fast off the couch it hurts like hell.
Cravings: still salads and more sweets this week that in the past.
Best Moment this week: Ordering the baby's furniture this week and getting normal results back on the quad blood scan.
What I am looking forward to: our anatomy scan in a couple weeks. i want to finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief that everything is going to turn out fine.
